Oh no, no, no. I did not have him escorted out. Our ASO adviser had him escorted out of the meeting. With all due respect, I advise you to get the facts straight. Also, the faculty does have a say in how the Associated Students Organization spends it money. According to District E-regulations and the California Student Education Code, the College President has veto power over any monetary decision made by the ASO Student Senate. Also, anything bought with ASO money is the LACCD's property not the college alone. We are a governing body under the auspicies of the District.

The meeting in which the gentleman who was escorted out of was an ASO Meet and Greet. It was not a regular ASO Student Senate Meeting. Student Senate meetings are Brown Act meetings. The ASO Meet and Greet was not a Brown Act meeting. Therefore, if anyone was to do any recording, he or she would have to get each and every Senator's and officer's permission to be recorded. In a regular Brown Act meeting, members of the public are protected by law to record without seeking permission.

If your meet and greet had enough members of the ASO present then, an argument can be made that you had quorum and the brown act does apply. Not to mention that you discussed appropriations.

Well, you may have a point if the students present were in fact ASO Senators, however they were not. The purpose of the Meet and Greet was to invite all students interested in becoming Senators. These are the students whom where present at the Meet and Greet. The Senate formed on March, 10, 2010. The Meet and Greet was held on March, 3, 2010. Therefore quorom was not established because there was no governing body to begin with.
