Athletic Director and former Los Angeles Harbor College football coach George Swade has been named coach once again. He replaces Andrew Alvillar, who resigned in the wake of the college's budgetary crisis. He now coaches defensive backs at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
Harbor College defeated LA City College by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday afternoon here at Harbor. The Sea Hawks were led by Freshman starting pitcher Matt Durbin who went 7 strong innings, striking out 4 and walking 2. He struggled in the 6th inning giving up 4 runs and 4 hits, but he managed to keep his cool and pulled it off and get out of the inning.

Linebacker Randy Tavui of Los Angeles Harbor College has been offered a full scholarship to play football at Missouri Valley State College. As a sophomore, Tavui was selected as both an All-American and All-State performer in the Mountain Conference in 2008; he also led the team in tackles and sacks.
The Los Angeles Lakers led by last years reigning MVP Kobe Bryant have been playing phenomenal basketball all season long as they look to add to their already 52 wins. With upset wins over the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day at the Staples Center snapping their 19 game winging streak and again in Boston, without star center Andrew Bynum who suffered a devastating knee injury days before but still managing to snap their 12 game win streak and not to mention the big win in Cleveland over LeBron James and the Cavaliers days later, snapping their 23-0 home record and home winning streak for the 2008-2009 season.
It's March…that means the birds are chirping, flowers are blooming and College Basketball Season is underway. During the month of March, there is one thing on everyone's mind, which's getting in to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament, also known to all fans as MARCH MADNESS.
February is black history month. As in the past, Los Angeles Harbor College would like to spotlight some great accomplishments of African Americans and also how their contributions to America have helped make this nation the greatest in the world. Today the focus is on one of our own and how for years he has exhibited outstanding qualities that have helped mold young men of many backgrounds.
